GREGORY LA CAVA
My Man Godfrey
What a lovely film. William Powell is so great as a formerly rich socialite, turned “Forgotten Man”, turned butler to a crazy Park Avenue family in New York. His attitude and demeanor sparkle every time he’s on the screen, which is pretty much every scene of the movie. It’s a screwball comedy for sure, and an excellent one at that. I think what I love about it is that it’s entirely non-predictable. It’s just a lovely, lovely film.
